ACI and IBM

IBM and ACI have partnered since the mid-1980s to provide financial institutions with highly reliable and full-function applications for transaction processing, transaction settlement and card management applications. ACI’s payment solutions are deployed on the IBM System z mainframe and also on IBM System p installations globally in Tier 1 financial institutions.

ACI and IBM have a close partnership with multiple Tier 1 clients using applications deployed on IBM System z and System p configurations. Through a strategic alliance, IBM worked to enable ACI products on the System z infrastructure, giving clients a path to benefit from the System z fundamentals and support their data center consolidations and rationalizations.

ACI continues to deliver, support and enhance BASE24-eps for IBM’s back-office solutions deployed on IBM System z. ACI also offers a high-value payments solution called ACI Money Transfer System deployed on the IBM System p AIX stack.

BASE24-eps

ACI’s flagship online payment transaction processing and authorization solution, BASE24-eps is available on IBM System z and System p using DB2 for database services. BASE24-eps supports financial transaction acquisition from devices such as ATMs, point-of-sale devices and other transaction-originating mediums. BASE24-eps routes these transactions to endpoint bank issuers and card schemes for authorization or can authorize them internally using limits and various client verification techniques.

ACI Issuer

ACI Issuer provides the backbone of any issuing operation and consists of batch and online transaction processing services. ACI Issuer not only manages traditional instruments like debit, prepaid, gift, credit and commercial cards. ACI Issuer can be used to manage other payment instruments such as unsecured fixed-term loans, tokens, wearables, buy now pay later, Request to Pay, person-to-person payments, etc. ACI Issuer is available as part of ACI’s managed service offering as well as via on-premises deployments. Multiple platforms are available, including IBM System z, IBM AIX and Red Hat Linux.

ACI Acquirer

ACI Acquirer supports any merchant acquiring operation by enabling the management of all merchant accounts. It enables acquirers to increase revenue by offering billing services, accepting new payment types and reducing cost per transaction. With ACI Acquirer, merchant acquirers can also manage risk by reducing false positives and staying compliant with PCI-SSF and strong customer authentication (SCA). Finally, ACI Acquirer enables merchant acquirers to reduce operational costs by processing authorizations efficiently through a scalable transaction engine and rapid initial implementation. ACI Acquirer is available as part of ACI’s managed service offering as well as via on-premises deployments. Multiple platforms are available, including IBM System z, IBM AIX and Red Hat Linux.

ACI Interchange

ACI Interchange handles clearing and settlement interfaces with international and domestic card schemes. It handles multiple card schemes in one system, enabling international and domestic interchange formats. All the main international card schemes are supported, including Visa, Mastercard, JCB, American Express, (GNS and CAPN), Discover and Union Pay International.

As well as standard clearing and settlement functions, ACI Interchange provides sophisticated and accurate interchange fee qualification and calculation of fee rates for acquirers and single-message reconciliation.

ACI Interchange is available as part of ACI’s managed service offering as well as via on-premises deployments. Multiple platforms are available, including IBM System z, IBM AIX and Red Hat Linux.

Clients deploying ACI solutions on the IBM System z benefit from:

  • Scalability – Both horizontal and vertical scale
  • Availability – For both scheduled and unscheduled changes to deliver 99.9999% availability to avoid any business disruptions achieved via a reliable hardware platform, advanced automation and disk mirroring to support failover
  • Simplified systems management – A base design point of IBM’s Parallel Sysplex Architecture
  • Capacity – Dynamic adjustment/activation of capacity needs
  • Consistent response times – Achieved through tight integration between the hardware, hypervisor and operating system/sub-systems
  • Security – The System z processor is EAL-5 Certified
  • Low total cost of ownership – Achieved via specialty engines, sharing of hardware resources, advanced virtualization technology and technology dividend
